Adventure Time

This post is a bit late, but I had a lovely time in Cardiff for my birthday weekend last week :) Thankyou for your messages! It was such a lovely little mini-break away with my sister and our best friends. It felt kind of weird not being home on my birthday to celebrate with my family but it just meant it was a day late! We set off for Cardiff on Friday and arrived in Margam park after about 3 and half hours of travelling. Margam was such a beautiful place, and we had some time before our Go Ape was booked so we took photos and had some little nature walks. Go Ape (which is a tree top adventure course) was amazing! I'd recommend it to anyone, and luckily, we got discount for working in the John Lewis Partnership so got 20% which was even better. I was nervous at the thought of doing my own safety ropes and such but by the end of the course I was much more confident. I absolutely loved the zip wires, although some of the crossing parts of each area were a bit scary! There is a rather unfortunate timed photo of me on Facebook looking absolutely petrified and about to burst into tears, but I have to say the camera lies! I had an excellent time. We finished the evening with a delicous carvery and, although we planned to go out in Cardiff, we were way too tired so had a couple of drink at the hotel.

Saturday (our birthday) was all about shopping! We started the day with a full english breakfast and then hit the shops. Cardiff is massive! We spent the whole day there and still didn't manage to do everything. It started off with rain but by lunchtime the weather was lovely. I brought loads of things in the sales and brought a rather large amount in Primark! Me and my sister took our cards with us so we had those to open before breakfast and it also meant we got our birthday money to spend :) The breakfast meant we skipped lunch and I had my first experience of my name being written on a cup in Starbucks :p Its the little things! Haha! For dinner we had a takeaway and some birthday cake for pud. Sunday was home time, with another full english to start and my homemade cookies for snack on the way home, which were delicious! We tried to stop off in the Forest of Dean but ended up driving through it and going north instead of south! Thank goodness for sat navs eh?

  1. Sounds like you had a lovely time, and such an original way to celebrate too! I've always wanted to have a go on one of the Go Ape courses but I think I'm too much of a scaredy cat, I once went on a school trip to a similar adventure spot and was petrified most of the weekend! (: x

  2. I live in Cardiff :) I'm going to hang out in Bute park and then get the water taxi through Cardiff Bay and down to Penarth to have an ice cream on the pier for my birthday. You will have to come back again, there is so much to see!
Did you see the lovely victorian shopping arcades?
There is a great fairy castle called Castel Coch near Cardiff too, well worth a look and Caerphilly Castle xx
