Southampton Etsy Craft Party

A week ago this afternoon was worlds away from what I was doing today. Instead of sitting at my desk staring at my computer screen at work, I was having the most fun I've had for ages with a group of lovely ladies (and guy!) I'd only met 'online.' It was my first time going to any sort of blogger event or meetup, but this one sounded so perfect I knew I couldn't let my social anxiety stop me! It really was too - it was full of crafting and goodies, and cake! And of course wonderful company. So, here's some pictures from my afternoon at Rachel's pretty flat for the Southampton Etsy Craft Party.

The goodie bags were ah-mazing! Seriously, so many lovely little things in our tassle adorned bags and full of makes from very talented people, some of whom were at the party too! There were gifts from: Crown and Glory, In Twos & Threes, Charlotte Valance, Claireabelle Makes, Alphabet Bags, Polka Dot Dreams and That Northern Lass just to mention a few!

It was great to see so many things from independent and british crafters - I adore my pug brooch from the lovely Zoe (who I didn't get a chance to speak to - boo!) of Ladybird Likes. I've blogged about her work before and am often seen parading in a butterfly necklace so I'm really pleased to add to my collection again!

The cakes and drinks were super delicious - I must commend the absolutely delicious (and beautiful!) sprinkle cake, berry cake, strawberry icecream made by Els and the pretty pink macaroons made by Flo. There were hearts of watermelon (drool) and everything looked like it belonged on Pinterest! It was heaven for a creative, I swear! Cawston Press provided so many apple juice flavours, Green Tulip gave us some rad bamboo plates to fill and the whole afternoon was full of chatter and stitching.

Harriet and Rachel decorated the flat wonderfully with decorations from The Sweet Hostess; tassle garlands hanging from the walls, tissue paper balls from the windows and not to forget the awesome table laid out with extra presents! We all had to put our name on pink raffle tickets ready for a prize draw at the end of the afternoon - it's a win win situation! I never win raffles so I loved that everyone walked away with some amazing stuff - and if you fancy winning something yourself, Rachel is ever so kindly hosting a giveaway which will launch tomorrow! I posted about OhNORachio in a post a while back and I was pleased as punch to win a lvoely ceramic bowl she had painted! Other prizes included prints from Emma Carlisle, a watch from Daniel Wellington, jewellery from Paper and Chain, pouches from Harriet Gray, a yummy cushion from Nikki McWilliams and heaps more!

We didn't just spend the whole time eating cake and diving into our goodies - we were each given a pennant which Harriet had sewn and then embroidered our little hearts away. I chose the phrase 'don't worry, be happy' which I constantly need to be reminded of - though I still need to finish this beauty off before I can hang it on my wall.

The afternoon was impeccably planned and I can't thank Harriet and Rachel enough for spending so much time organising the whole thing - I just wish it was a weekly thing! It was great to meet etsy shop owners, bloggers and other creatives who lived local as well as those who had traveled from further away, and a great experience to put voices to the text I read on the internet! I didn't get to speak to everyone, so I'm hoping there will be a meet up again soon! If you fancy reading more on what we got up to, here are some links to some of the other blog posts :)
