Sunday baking

Last Sunday, in the middle of this heatwave we are having, I decided it would be a good idea to spend the day locked in the kitchen baking sweet treats. Now I never say no to a good ol' baking session, but I think having the oven on and trying to work with buttercream and melted smarties whilst the temperature is in the late twenties wasn't one of my best ideas! Needless to say, the cakes turned out pretty well and I ventured into my first foray of trying to make my cupcakes look professional half decent. I've always wanted to do the swish icing you see at bakeries and although mine are far from perfect, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out! Plus it's pretty easy to do if you have the right nozzle. I picked up mine (which came in a set of three) from Sainsburys no less, and it comes with a piping bag that makes it really easy to use, and clean.

I promised I'd bake some cakes for my work colleagues who were lovely to me for birthday and I'd say they went down pretty well! I also made some chocolate chip cookies which were also devoured pretty promptly - but the chocolate chips never did fare well in the heat! xo

  1. Oh yummy!!!!! Stunning pictures too!!

I cannot bake to save my life. Tried cookies once.. it didn't go well.

Maybe I'll try this once I get some confidence back up ;) hahaha

  2. these look delish! i'd be tempted to eat them :D

  3. Mm they look so yummy! I love baking but with the heat I've been trying to stick to drinks recipes instead, raspberry lemonade being one of my favourites!xx
