Coffee Table Books #1
Toast & Marmalade has been on my wishlist for a while. I’m always interested in reading other creative’s stories and history, and seeing sketches and progression of their art always makes me inspired so this one was firmly on my list. I kept perusing it in bookstores before finding it reduced on Amazon (where it’s currently £16.75 as opposed to the RRP which is £25).
It's a beautiful book, both the words and the photography are beautifully presented and captured to create a book that makes me inspired from the very first page. It’s interspersed with pictures and sketches of Emma Bridgewaters’ work, as well as recipes and stories from her life that are heart-warming and touching. This isn’t only one for Bridgewater fans, so don’t be put off by that. It’s a really lovely book that is a good flick through if you’re after some food-styling ideas, sketchbook inspiration or even to dip into for an afternoon read. The binding is probably my favourite part; it’s beautifully bound with a yellow-orange cloth and debossed with the title – it looks perfect housed on a shelf or left on a coffee table for your guests to peruse – I’m sure they’ll thank you for it.
