Catching up

I have a few things to share so I thought I’d do a catch up post to get you all up to speed! It was my 22nd birthday last week and I celebrated suitably – a night out with cocktails, a family BBQ and a trip to the theatre to marvel at the Lion King – which was as incredible as I hoped it would be.

I keep meaning to organise this little blog of mine, I have big plans and lots of posts to write but as usual, other things get in the way. I used to be someone who said that I just don’t have the time, and I was always wishing for more hours in the day. What I’ve come to realise though, is that I simply don’t manage my time effectively. I could get a lot more done if I was organised and also used the time when I feel motivated to good use – and not browsing the Internet with no outcome! Instead of saying ‘I have no time to do paint/blog/organise stuff’ I know I just don’t make time. Sometimes I find myself with a new book and I spend the whole evening devouring it greedily, and wondering what I used to do in evenings before hand and still achieve nothing. (The Internet is the answer to most of the questions!)

I have so many plans and ideas in my head that don’t materialise and it’s not just my motivation that’s the problem. I find myself waiting a lot. Waiting for the ‘perfect’ time or when work is less busy. Waiting for the weekend to get something done. There’s that phrase that goes something like ‘If you wait for the perfect moment, you’ll never get anything done’. And I also like to remind myself that ‘the time is now.’ I need to try and get myself out of this mindset so I can achieve everything I want to. I get frustrated when I haven’t got anything done, or I’ve had a whole evening and not got anything out of it. It’s my own fault, of course, but I’m hoping to do something about it. I wonder if you guys can relate with the whole waiting thing? I think that sometimes it’s not just me, but a common thing and it applies to so many different things (the perfect time to leave the job you hate, the perfect time to pop the question, the perfect time to say ‘enough’).

So, hooray if you are still with me after that little rant!
Some other things I’ve been enjoying is taking the time out to simply paint my nails. You can see an attempt above – I used Models Own Lilac Sheen, Snow White and a thin paintbrush. I’ve been trying to get fit recently too, but that’s another post in itself! I also spent the weekend illustrating some thank you cards for my lovely family who spoiled me on my birthday – I know thank you cards are kind of outdated now and usually replaced by texts, but I think it’s so much nicer to receive something in the post, especially if it’s handmade! I’ve also discovered Rocio’s beautiful blog ‘Let it be Cosy' which I found on twitter when she followed me yesterday, after a shout out from the very lovely Rosie (you should check out her wonderful blog too – it’s a favourite of mine). I also find YouTube videos the perfect activity to do whilst I’m washing up – I prop my iPad on the windowsill and the dishes get done without any objections! Recently I’ve been loving HeyClaire, Cupcake Jemma and Bess at Thoroughly English.

I’m going to try and get organised from now on, so if things don’t get a bit more frequent over here, give me a nudge on twitter! Have a great week!
My beautiful memo pad you can see above was found in TK Maxx

  2. I have to agree with the organising time! I too am on a mission to be productive while at home - I waste hours on Buzzfeed, Pinterest, Tumblr and YouTube then complain that I haven't blogged! So I've set up a new desk and am trying to plan out my blog more lol.

  3. Happy belated birthday lovely! I'm definitely guilty of waiting for the weekend to get things done, but I always leave too much to fit into just those 2 days. I'm slowly getting better at time management, but only if I make a lot of lists! <3
