If you haven't guessed by the photos already, I visited Lush Southampton for a blogger event on Friday evening; took many photos, learnt a lot and met plenty of wonderful bloggers to boot.

I will admit that I haven’t tried much of Lush – I’d been gifted a few bath bombs but I had no idea just how many products they had! I was introduced to their full range of skincare, makeup and hair care and I was so impressed with the variety and choice. Lush products are all made by hand using little or no preservatives and the ingredients are locally sourced where possible. Lush are also totally against animal testing and I’m so impressed with their ethical commitment to sourcing their ingredients.

The evening started with a delicious array of fruit, popcorn and vegan cupcakes, as well as some bubbly and chitchat with the rest of the lovely bloggers in attendance – I had only met Harriet and Rachel before so the icebreaker challenge that followed was a great introduction. I also chatted with the very lovely Natasha whilst we gave each other arm massages using ‘Hottie’ – a massage bar that contained ginger and is perfect for soothing sore muscles after a hard work out.

We then moved on to watching Milli and Pete make some of the fresh face masks right in front of us. It was great to see the fresh, locally sourced ingredients being made into the products and I do love the way lush have a sticker on their products to say who made it at the factory – it’s a great personal touch. Cupcake is made using rhassoul mud and cocoa and really does look like cupcake batter! My favourite though was Catastrophe Cosmetic which is made using blueberries and chamomile, so it’s perfect for soothing irritated skin. I’ve tried Catastrophe Cosmetic already and my face was incredibly soft afterwards! I’ve got a girly night-in with some friends on Friday so I’ll take these with me and we can all have a pamper – the fresh fruit means they have to be kept in the fridge and have a shorter use-by date than their other products.

Next up meant time for our ‘Emotional Brilliance’ readings. I had no idea of the vast collection of makeup Lush had, and their display was beautiful! Emotional Brilliance is a spinning wheel which is covered with blocks of colour and contains their corresponding products beneath. It was mesmerising watching the fog from the dry ice cover the wheel – you have to close your mind and clear your head before quickly choosing three colours that stand out most to you. I came out with strong, sophisticated and charm – two lip colours and a cream eye shadow. They all had really impressive pigments and I was most taken by the ‘sophisticated’ eye shadow – a beautiful bronzey-taupe that will look perfect of my lids. You can pop in-store for a reading or try it out on their website!

The team at Lush Southampton were so helpful and knowledgeable – the evening was really thought out and the five of them made us all feel welcome and were on hand to answer any questions. A big thankyou to Rosie, Milli, Pete, Christine and Sam for running a great event and also for our extremely generous goodie bags. I’m so excited to try out all my new products and I’ll be posting reviews in due course! They were also kind enough to include something for all of you guys...

Now I don’t know what’s in this beautifully wrapped gift of goodies (which you can see above) but I know it will be good! Lush have kindly given me one to give away, so just follow the simple entry requirements in the Rafflecopter form below to be entered to win! I’ll also pop in a few treats, and the giveaway will run for one week before I draw a winner - open to UK residents only. Good luck!
