I thought I’d share with you what I'm currently using in my makeup routine, and what I wear pretty much everyday. It usually only changes if a new product takes my fancy – I’ve not found the perfect foundation and I always like trying new mascaras - but otherwise, everything is repurchased. I don't stray much – I seem to know what I like and am happy to stick with it. My everyday look is winged liner and neutral eyeshadow, a matte base and a bit of chapstick. I guess that’s why I don’t talk beauty much on the blog – it would be way too boring!
As I mentioned above, though, I’m always changing my foundation. This Revlon foundation is a pretty close match for my shade and my favourite I’ve tried so far although I seem to have a problem with this particular bottle. I had this before and the foundation itself was much thicker – in the new bottle it is so thin and runny that it makes it much more difficult to apply. Did they change the formula, or have I got a dodgy bottle? It’s put me off a little because otherwise I would repurchase if the formula was like the first – do let me know if you’ve tried this and whether it’s just me!
And again, my ever-changing mascara. I have two in rotation at the moment – the one pictured is the new Rimmel London Wonderfull Eyes mascara which boasts that the formula contains argan oil. I also use the Maybelline Falsies mascara, which I'm reaching for more often at the moment.
I bought this in the shade 'And on bronze' a couple of months back and I'm so glad I did. It's the perfect autumn/winter shade and blends so smoothly with a great colour payoff. I use my finger to apply it and because it's a cream eyeshadow, I find it stays put all day. I pair this with a dab of the Dainty Doll Eyeshadow base which I picked up from Poundland one day, can you believe! I pop this in the inner corners which really brightens my eyes.
I’ve written about eyeliner before on the blog because it's such a staple in my routine. I’ve tried quite a few, but have settled on this Maybelline Gel Liner for quite a while now. It’s not perfect with its staying power, but it’s really easy to apply and I can make it as thin or as thick as I like.
For my eyebrows I use a mix of Rain and Driftwood from my Stila palette, and set it with a cheap and cheerful clear mascara from Miss Sporty.
The Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream has been a godsend (I wrote more about it here ). I never have any problems with dry, chapped lips if I remember to put this on each night and it's so nice to be able to go through the cold, windy months without having any problems! I also picked up the new Maybelline Colour Drama lip crayon in Nude perfection last month and is a beautiful nude shade. It glides on really well and is a staple for adding a bit of colour to my lips when I need it.
And finally, for the actual method of application. I use the ever-popular Real Techniques brushes (the starter kit) which are really great – soft, easy to clean and reasonably priced. For my brows and blusher, I use the Eco-Tools brushes that come in the 6-piece kit.
Phew, that was a long post! When you write it all out, it does seem like a lot of steps but as I’m sure you know, it doesn’t take long to do your everyday makeup in the morning. If you have any questions, (or answers to mine!) just pop them in the comments below. Oh, and before I forget, my makeup bag is from Primark! xo
