My Happy List

It's Autumn
The cosy season

There’s something about autumn that feels comforting to me – it conjures up images in my mind of crackling fires, decadent hot chocolates and brisk walks through multi-hued leaves. Evenings are spent under blankets hiding away from the enveloping darkness that sweeps over us at a too-early hour.

Fresh flowers
To brighten things up

Having fresh blooms spotted around the house just makes me smile. This particular bunch was kindly sent to me by Debenhams flowers – and what a beautiful sight they are. I’ve taken a few roses out and popped them in a second vase to brighten up the kitchen – the ‘Autumn Sun’ bouquet was full to the brim and I definitely need to invest in some larger vases! I’m always a bit wary of flower delivery sites having heard of bad experiences in the past – it never occurred to me to try Debenhams so it’s great to know they do it, and I’ll definitely use them again in the future! While I don’t make a habit of getting bouquets delivered to my house, to me from me, they’ll certainly brighten up a friend’s home. Plus, we all know they make perfect presents for Mums and Grandmas and an extra bonus is they do next day flowers, too.

Debenhams have kindly offered my readers a discount code, so if you want to order some flowers for a loved one, use the code DFBLOG25 and get a whopping 25% off. The code doesnt work for their 'Flowers by Post' range, but there's loads of other options on their site and they all look gorgeous.

Giant scarves
Or blankets!

I have far too many scarves. I know it, I accept it, and I still buy more. I seem to have a particular penchant for those massive ones – you know, the ones that can be mistaken for a picnic blanket if you leave it lying around. To me, that gives them double the warmth and they’re oh so cosy – I always feel the cold so these are a must have, even if I do look like I have a buoyancy aid around my neck (albeit a fashionable one).

The Great British Bake Off
BBC One, 8pm

I’ve enjoyed the series immensely this year, and I’ll be so sad when it’s off our screens. It’s the big final tonight and I’d be happy if any of them won, though I’m secretly rooting for Nadiya, I think. I’m a seasoned watcher, but Graham only started watching it with me this year and it makes me very happy seeing him so ‘in to it’. Who knows, maybe I’ll discover a cake waiting for me one evening and discover he’s picked up a wealth of baking knowledge and an ounce of cooking talent…!

  1. With you on all of these <3

  2. I really want to buy a giant scarf. A huge one that will just swallow me whole. Great list!
